If you have only 5 minutes, please write to your local councillor asking them what they and their party will do to safeguard funding for violence against women services.

If you have more time, please:

  • get in touch with your local violence against women services to find out what is happening
  • ask your local councillor or police commissioners for a meeting to discuss further – see your council website for details

  • ask questions at council meetings – issue a press release

These refuges, shelters, immigration and asylum advice centres have been built on and by the needs, fears, sweat and dreams of many thousands of unsung heroes of our movement.  These services are literally life saving and work with some of the most vulnerable women and children who on a daily basis experience domestic and sexual violence, rape, forced marriage, female genital mutilation and dowry related abuse. We have to take action to protect them.

Please get in touch to discuss plans or if you would like support. We can send you template briefings for meetings with councillors, talk you through relevant issues and even conduct mock meetings with councillors.

Let us know when you have taken action so we can keep track of what is happening around the country.
