Cuts to Violence Against Women’s Services

‘Services aimed at helping vulnerable women, including refuges and rape crisis centres, are facing “disastrous” million-pound cuts as local authorities slash their budgets’ The Huffington Post UK.

NCDV has found that domestic violence has increased by 17% during the period of recession in the UK, yet cuts to funding have seen the closure of refuges and victim support centres across the country. Cuts to housing benefits  further impact on women by limting the possibility of leaving an abusive partner.
